Tandem Junction PV Cell Development

We continue to make progress on the development of our patented Tandem Junction Photovoltaic Solar Cell.  IntriEnergy entered into an agreement with Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - Barcelona Tech (UPC).  UPC was selected for its strong ‘materials‑science infrastructure’ relevant to Silicon Carbide (SiC) research.  The goal of the project was two-fold:

·  Validate the concept of our Silicon Carbide layer based on our prior work conducted at CNR (National Research Institute of Italy);

·   Optimize the SiC photon interception and efficient electron mobility.

The work involved continuous applied research activities of growing single layer SiC films and doing the important work of characterizing the films to identify the ideal composition of depositions targeting those wavelengths not captured by commercial solar cells.  The following represents samples of our films at various stages of development throughout the project, which demonstrated significant breakthroughs achieved by optimizing the Silicon Carbide.

The engineering concluded in June, validating the potential for manufacturing our low-cost high energy gradient SiC layer for improved solar cell efficiencies.  Our final step is to optimize the SiC gradient layer on commercial solar cells, and we are currently in early discussions with an industry recognized facility to produce our SiC tandem solar cell on a commercial pilot line.

  IntriEnergy® Trademark Update

Another milestone for IntriEnergy®.  We are pleased to report that our ‘IntriEnergy’ trademark has been successfully registered with the USPTO, transforming IntriEnergy® into a legally recognized asset.  We have been granted exclusive nationwide rights to use our brand name in connection with commercial activities, ultimately safeguarding our brand identity, as we advance into the market.

Anti-Reflective Coating

As previously reported, we have proven our anti-reflective coating (ARC) can achieve near zero reflectivity across a broader light spectrum than today’s best-in-class ARC’s.  As we introduce our Tandem Junction Photovoltaic Cell to the global market, our goal is finalizing steps to incorporate our ARC with industry cell manufacturers.  This will create a new licensing opportunity, providing cell manufacturers with an additional 10% of energy output from their solar cells.

Sincerely,
